Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th will be the fourth Annual General W. H. L. Wallace Memorial Weekend, entitled “La Salle County at Peace: The Public & Soldiers Speak,” will include several new events this year and a new encampment location at Pitstick Pavilion, in Ottawa, IL.

This year’s new events will include military drill formations and weapons demonstrations, musicians, coopering and blacksmith demonstrations, a vintage base ball game, cooking, Bishop’s Religious Debate, and Bonfire Ceremony.
Saturday will feature and period bonfire ceremony and an artillery night fire demonstration.
In addition to the Civil War Encampment, Medical Hospital, period demonstrations, vendors and sutlers at the encampment, new events on Sunday will include an early morning church service at for the soldiers with the public invited, Bishop’s Religious Debate on Slavery, and a vintage base ball match with the Lemont Quarrymen.
Some events are free and a donation is expected for others. All money raised throughout the weekend will be used for the restoration and upkeep of the Dickey-Wallace Cemetery.
